Winter is coming.....

The Winter season fixtures are now live on the website with 26 teams taking part. With Lutterworth Club A and Countesthorpe Bowls dropping out this season due to lack of numbers, the divisions have been structured as follows. Division 1 has 10 teams, Division 2 has 8 teams, and Division 3 has 8 teams. As such, Railway A has been moved up from Division 2 after finishing 3rd last time out, with the usual promotion and relegation of the top and bottom two teams giving us the new divisions. This means we do not have any bye weeks, but there will be a number of spare weeks for Division 2 and Division 3 until all divisions are complete. One spare week has been put after the turnaround in week 9 for Division 2 and Division 3, with the rest at the end of the season, to be used for any cancelled games or friendlies. We have also changed the second half of the season to not mirror exactly the first set of games, so we can get a more balanced home and away set of games throughout the season. To access the new fixtures, go to your team page and select WINTER 2026/27 in the pull-down at the top, and for all fixtures do the same on the fixtures pages from the main menu. It will automatically switch over once the summer season finishes.

Performances of the Week: Tom smashes 90 while Lord Nelson helped by heavy hitters

The week belonged to the big individual numbers as Tom Loomes led the way for South Wigston CC B with 90 points, 4 whacks and a best throw of 18, as well as 17, 16 and 12 at home to Bulls Head Broncos. Right behind him Brian Wilson of South Wigston CC B notched 79 with 4 whacks and a best throw of 15. Lord Nelson had 3 heavy hitters including Shaun Markham's 78 with 3 whacks, while in form Harry Ojari scored 77 with 4 whacks and a best throw of 15 to go with Neil Markham on 77 and 3 whacks. ![](/images/1785489545024_a4ce06e2.png) Mick Hopley of South Wigston CC C hit 73 with a best throw of 17 and Eric Joynson also on 73 with 3 whacks and a best throw of 16 at home to New Plough A. The data also shows the all important whack ups with Tom Loomes and Brian Wilson both registering 4 whacks, Harry Ojari matching that tally and Shaun Markham close behind with 3, giving them star status in the FSL points the week. However Paul Elliott hit the top of the whack table again with 2 more taking him to 22, overtaking Nigel Loomes who had a rare blank week with Tom Loomes, Brian Wilson and Eric Joynson only just behind them after this weeks hauls. Mick Wade has now also had at least one whack in all 13 games he's played this season, will the streak continue?

Match of the Week Week 16 - Plough B Bruntingthorpe v Railway Shunters goes to a last leg thriller

In Division 2 the night’s drama came in the last leg between Plough B Bruntingthorpe and Railway Shunters, ending 434 to 437. Leg 1 finished 68 to 54 with Plough B in the lead by 6 then Leg 2 saw a bigger gap as Plough B moved to 128 to 109. Leg 3 kept the lead for Plough B at 190 to 174 and Leg 4 tightened up 243 to 229 as Plough B held a slim advantage of 14. Leg 5 saw the gap close down to 9 pins and the Shunters continue to improve into Leg 6 with the gap of 5 pins at 370 to 365 still in favour of Plough B. Then leg 7 swung the night on its head as Railway Shunters hit 72 following Plough B’s 64 set, sealing a 437 to 434 victory to win by 3 pins after winning the last 5 legs to overturn the 19 pins head start from leg 2. The home side Connor Wilkins contributed 64 (including 3 whacks) for Plough B Bruntingthorpe while Ken Clarke led Railway Shunters with 66 including an all important 14 in leg 7 to help seal the win. The drama lay in the middle legs when Plough B briefly pressed the advantage but Railway Shunters edged ahead on leg 3 and did not surrender the lead again, delivering a late finish that kept spectators on their feet. It was a night where a single late swing decided the result and both sides produced plenty of eye catching moments. The running totals after each leg tell a clear story of a game that swung on the third leg and never looked back for the visitors, when a final push from Railway Shunters sealed it in the end.
